| Australasian Quilt Convention & Expo 2009 | | 01-04-2009 | | | Well what can we say, what a fabulous time Rhonda and I had at the AQE last month. It’s a pity we had to work!!! (We didn’t suffer too much, we seemed to come home with extra bags each night!!)
Yes, it got a little warm, or maybe just plain hot, but what a wonderful building and backdrop to have such an amazing event, just for patch-workers, here in Melbourne. I don’t think any of us really realize how lucky we all are, to have an event that is dedicated to patchwork and quilting right at our back door.
We as Australians stand on our own, and should be truly proud of the work that has and will be produced in the future. We have a fantastic array of designers and retailers who out of a passion for our craft produce a wonderful array of products including fabrics, patterns, tools and books, let alone those who teach and lecture.
There were so many wonderful stands full of everything you could ever want or need, fabrics galore, books and tools, let a lone catching up with the designers and quilters behind all the impressive and admirable quilts on display. If you were lucky enough to take part in one of the many Classes that ran over the four days, Rhonda and I are very jealous. I think next year Rhonda will have two days of taking classes and then I’ll take two days!!! Let alone the Cocktail party and the Gala Dinner – that’s another story – what happens on show stays on show!!!
The 2010 Australasian Quilt Convention & Expo will continue to be held at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton, with new dates – Thursday April 29th to Sunday May 2nd. So the weather will be much kinder to us.
