| I SPY QUILTING BEE 2009 | | 25-05-2009 | | |  What a great day was had by all. A HUGE “Thank You” goes out to all who helped and got involved, not forgetting all the helpers for the weeks before when we were getting organized. You may not realize just how much work goes into running such an event. When Rona, Rhonda and I first thought about what we could do and have as our chosen charity when we first began Blue Willow Cottage, we never thought that it would turn into such a big day. There’s lots of cutting of blocks & borders, not forgetting the miles and miles of binding, ready cut, pieced, pressed and wound. This year we even basted the quilts beforehand too.
Every year we get more and more quilts finished and lots of donations of fabrics, backings, wadding (now we’re using fleecy, makes a nice cuddly quilt). The donations not only come from our big suppliers, but there is all the small and large donations made from you girls out there. And, of course, please let us praise The Regent Street Stitchers. You girls are just amazing. Since you girls have been on board, we’ve been able to donate twice as many quilts, just fabulous!! Thanks, also to the girls who join us on our Saturday afternoon, friendship group – “Lazy Daze”, one Saturday afternoon a month – 2pm to 4pm - $5 per person, (more info on our Friendship Group page). All money raised goes straight into the “I SPY” fund, to help with extra’s on or before the day. I must not forget a special thank you to Anne, Michele & Melanie for the yummy cakes and slices. So all you girls out there that helped out, whether it was on the day, or before, or donated, or joined us on Lazy Daze, give yourselves a pat on the back, you deserve it!!!
We are looking at having next year’s “I SPY Quilting Bee 2010” around Sunday 30th of May, we’re not sure about the venue, as Mossfiel Hall is up for demolition, so if anyone has any ideas or knows of a hall nearby please drop us a line, as we may need to change the date as well.
