| Evendale –Tasmania – 2010 | | 20-01-10 | | |  As many of you are aware, Rhonda & I get to travel and seem to be on the road more and more these days.
While we’re away we find that, apart from being at the venue of a show, we spend most of our time in a car, in our hotel room fighting over the best lit spot in the room, let alone in a queue at the airport. Don’t get us wrong, we find we are very fortunate to be able to travel with our wares. We’ve made great friends along the way that we get to catch up with regularly, but it’s not all fun and games while we’re away and most of all we miss our families and our beds!!
So, when the opportunity arose to be a part of the “Winter Gathering” held in the gorgeous little town of – Evendale – around about a 20 minute drive from Launceston, we knew it would be a fun get away so we dragged Jo Anne along with us. I never give up the chance to visit Tasmania – I just love it!!
We made our quick 2 day visit to Tasmania, arriving Friday morning. As we were checking in to the whimsical “Penny Royal Hotel”, we found up the cobbled drive-way was a handmade boiled lolly shop where we couldn’t help ourselves. Then we took a short walk into town to spend the day out shopping in Launceston, (as you may be aware that we don’t have the same shops at home.)
Saturday morning we were up early and headed into Evendale to spend the day at the “Winter Gathering”. The day begins around 10 am, morning tea, home cooked lunch and afternoon tea were provided, together with Project Bags filled to the brim with gifts, samples and mini kits provided by the shops and tutors involved on the day. I manned the stand with Jo Anne helping me out as it got busy, while Rhonda and the other tutors spent the day going from table to table teaching (Although every time I was looking out for Rhonda, she was gossiping with Brenda Ryan). Over all we got to see and spend time outside in the gorgeous surroundings, had a fun and busy filled weekend where new friendships were formed, and we look forward to the next “Winter Gathering”.
