| Introducing Figgle Bug Designs by Sharon Pheiffer | | 24-01-10 | | | We met Sharon back in 2003 and were introduced to her family of quirky reindeers that grow in numbers each year. However she began her business back in 1998 after designing and making a “Good Luck” wall hanging that was hung in a friend’s patchwork shop; she soon found out that customers wanted the pattern. “One pattern led to another, and then Figgle Bug Designs was born!” Sharon recalls.
Sharon has always drawn and experimented with colour in one medium or another, after the birth of her daughter Carly in 1991 she began to dabble with fabric making baby quilts. Her interest in appliqué began following a visit to a country sewing centre, where a class was being held to make “The Colour Purple” quilt – this inspired her to make a lap quilt for her Nan’s 90th birthday.
“I have been addicted ever since!” says Sharon.
We have supported Figgle Bug Designs by having Samples and Patterns in store and on the road with us for several years now and know that there is quite a following and waiting list to see what’s new.
“Quite frankly, my life hasn’t been the same since!!!” writes Sharon, about her being invited into the Blue Willow Family. Rhonda and I can’t seem to think why Sharon feels this way. The fact is that Rona always had a cheeky remark for her, especially when we very first met Sharon. To welcome and lighten the mood, Rona would come up with some strange name for the newcomer, as was her way, so it’s now stuck. Strangely Sharon doesn’t look Japanese!!
All jokes aside we welcome Figgle Bug Designs to the Blue Willow Cottage website and hope you find the designs fun, entertaining and as whimsical as we have. |
