Shop Front The Rona, Rhonda & Chrissie Story

One day Rona, Chrissie and Rhonda decided that, as they loved all things patchwork, they would open their own shop. After all, who could resist having a whole shop as a "stash".

Thanks to George and Mary Dellios, a suitable site was made available to the 3 "young girls", and they started work full of enthusiasm and "youthful" vigour.

Paint was liberally applied to every surface (including some people who didn't move quickly enough and certain sections of carpet - usually in Rona's workspace)... The girls all knew in their hearts what kind of environment they wanted to work in and somehow, without much discussion, Blue Willow became exactly what all three knew it could be. It is a place where there is no such thing as a "stupid question", where everyone is made welcome, a place to relax and learn and laugh (sometimes at Rona) and an escape from the big bad world!!! Blue Willow has become a haven for stitchers of all varieties and styles and somewhere you can depend on a nice hot cuppa!!!

Because the three "girls" feel so blessed by their luck in achieving a perfect place to "work" they felt it was only right that they shared their good fortune with their community. Hence they started the Annual I-Spy Quilt making day and the Bandaid Brigade. This charity work is helped by so many people - and we all know "many hands make light work". One volunteer was overheard saying, "this isn't work, it's fun" - the three girls, upon hearing this, realised that their dream had come true.

2006 saw the release of new patterns designed especially to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. Blue Willow Cottage has teamed up with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and $5 from the sale of each pattern in this series, aptly called the "Garden of Life" will go directly to the NBCF.

Sadly on the 12th of January 2009 we lost Rona after a short illness. She was an integral part of Blue Willow Cottage. Her wit and character have influenced Rhonda and Christine in countless ways, so that she will never truly leave us.

Blue Willow also welcomes groups and bus tours which can be served a lovely lunch or morning and afternoon teas. Be sure to book for these events or Rhonda won't know when to bake!! (Ouch!!)

So if you find yourself in Werribee South, call in, catch up on what’s going on and say HI...
